The Benefits of Installing a Cold Air Intake

05 May 2017 - 11:35 AM

When it comes to modding cars, everybody wants more power and more fun. That's a great goal, but all that power and fun comes with a pretty decent price tag and a large amount of installation time. So what can you do to improve your engine and get a little bit more of a kick? Well, you might be looking for a cold air intake.

While this is one of the most inexpensive mods available, it does give your vehicle a little bit extra. It's not like having a supercharged engine, but it will make a pretty noticeable difference for only a few hundred bucks and an easy installation. When you get your car with a factory air intake system, it's like your car has a stuffy nose. You can still go out and do your errands with a stuffed up nose, but things could be better, right?

If you put a cold air intake in, you're freeing those sinuses right up and letting your car work at its full potential. These intake systems move the air filter out of the engine compartment, which allows for colder air to be brought into the engine for combustion. Since the colder air is much denser, it contains more oxygen than the air from a factory air intake system. This gives you more power from the combustion chamber.

Again, while this isn't the most expensive modification in the world, it will allow you to get a much larger kick. In addition to getting cooler air into the combustion chamber, it also increases airflow. Instead of being stuffed up with an average amount of hot air, your car can be filled with flowing cool air and you can get your foot in the door with modifications!

Never Underestimate the Tires on Your Car

05 May 2017 - 11:16 AM

When people think of getting their car to peak performance, many drivers take a look under the hood. If you want the best performance, you need to make sure you have an upgraded, top-of-the-line engine, right? Well, not necessarily. I mean, sure, keeping things updated under the hood is a great way to improve performance, but what if something unexpected happens?

What if you're driving your expensive, newly upgraded beast of a car and somebody else on the road makes a mistake? You slam on the brakes and suddenly you realize you only looked under the hood. You completely forgot to look under the car itself. You need to make sure you keep those tires updated as well.

Take a look at the video below by Engineering Explained as he talks about the importance of spending a little extra on some new tires. He does some road tests with the vehicle to show how much the new tires influenced the car's overall performance. It's definitely worth a glance, and make sure you never forget to buy your sweet ride some new shoes.
